Ah TY! If you haven't played "Matrix games" before (i've not seem them used in fantasy before) this link has a game that explains the rules more comprehensively https://paxsims.wordpress.com/2023/11/21/skies-without-birds-a-niger-delta-matri...

It would absolutely support a larger group of 8 players (4 teams of 2) as well, something that normal TTRPGs struggle to do IMO.
